After the festivities of the new year The Vale of Itchen lodge celebrated a Burn’s Night on the 31st January.
Robert Burn was a famous freemason, being initiated on the 4th July 1781. He wrote many a poem and song professing his love for the fraternity and often to the women he fancied.
The Scottish poet is best known for “Auld Lang Syne” which is commonly sang on New Years Eve, a famously wrote the “Address to a Haggis” which is recited on Burns Night suppers before serving up the tasty dish.

The 1st of February saw the a 3rd degree ceremony, raising Brother Issa to the degree of a Master Mason.

The March meeting of the Vale of Itchen welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master on an official visit. The APGM presented Grand Lodge certificates to Brothers Issa and Sean.
The main ceremony was passing Brother Geoffrey to the degree of a Fellowcraft, and the lodge balloted for a new member for initiation.

The April Charity Gala evening was brilliantly arranged and ran by Worshipful Brother Paul in support of his chosen charity for the year, the Piam Brown Ward.
Donations received exceeded £1000
They are a paediatric haematology and oncology unit, providing care and support to children and adolescents up to the age of 16 and their families.
