The Vale of Itchen celebrates Burns Night

The Vale of Itchen lodge doesn’t meet for a regular meeting in January but instead holds a white table dinner evening celebrating the life and works of Robert Burns

Robert Burn was a famous freemason, being initiated on the 4th July 1781. He wrote many a poem and song professing his love for the fraternity and often to the women he fancied.

The Scottish poet is best known for “Auld Lang Syne” which is commonly sang on New Years Eve, a famously wrote the “Address to a Haggis” which is recited on Burns Night suppers before serving up the tasty dish.

As well as a hearty 4 course meal members of the Vale of Itchen and their guests enjoyed a raffle and helped to raise over £830 for the Worshipful Master’s chosen charity for the year, the Firefighters Charity.

The Vale of Itchen regularly holds social events as well as Freemason’s lodge meetings for it’s members. If you are not yet a Freemason and would like to find out more on how to visit or join, please see our ‘How to Join‘ page, our ‘FAQs‘ or Contact us for further information.
